-Adapted from an article by Josh Cope-
Today I was thinking about all the benefits you’ll experience when you build your business to the level where you can go fulltime. Now I know that the idea of being able to fire your boss and live the lifestyle of your dreams can seem far off sometimes, but I assure you that it can be just around the corner - even in as little as 90 days!
So check out this list I put together this morning and get excited! Because this can be YOUR list as soon as you commit yourself to success!
1. Money. Of course it topped my list, but not because owning your own business is all about making tons of money (even though you will). It’s because when you own your own business YOU get to decide what to do with your money. YOU decide where to put the profits… preferably into your own pocket! So it gives you an overall total satisfaction that you are in complete control of your life, your lifestyle, and your future. Because as you may be discovering, in today’s current economy the idea of having job security is a total myth. But if you own your own business and control the money you have the ultimate in security!
2. No More Pink Slips. This kind of goes with #1, but when you own your own business you can’t be fired or laid off. All too often I’ve heard stories of people working at a company for many years, only to come in one day and find that their position is being eliminated due to cut backs… or others are just plain laid off. But when you own your own business you can rest assured that you’re working towards a goal that’s not just going to disappear overnight.
3. A Big Fat Lack Of Commute. When you own your own business, you get to enjoy the awesome “8 second commute” where you just walk upstairs to your home office and go to work! And when you’re done, you don’t have to face a 30 minute commute through snarled rush-hour traffic!
4. You Decide. You decide how your business grows, and in what direction. It’s all up to you! You don’t have to grit your teeth and wonder why the “Powers That Be” are putting so much of the budget into THIS area… or making you complete tasks that make no sense to you at all. YOU decide what’s the best use of the budget AND your time!
5. Go! Want to take that dream vacation? Want to take a random summer day off and lounge by the pool? Do it! When you own your own business you can do anything you want any time you want! No begging your boss for a day off months in advance, just reschedule your workday and takeoff!
6. Wow Factor. Sure, some people are going to get more enjoyment out of this than others, but telling other people that you own your own business can be pretty cool. Your friends will envy you, and people will always be jealous of the lifestyle you’re able to lead.
7. Good Food. No more having to eat unhealthy fast food, or choke down a 4-hour old sandwich that you brought to work with you. Since you work from home, you’ve got the ability to eat healthy, great food that’s 10 seconds away in your refrigerator!
8. Parenting Stuff. You can now take your kids to and from school and attend PTA meetings and 3pm plays. Or even take a summer afternoon off and take them to the pool. These little slices of family time are some of the most important, especially to your kids. And when you own your own business you can be sure you’ll never miss another second!
9. No More Drama. You don’t have to suck it up and weakly smile at the guy across the hall who you know is horrible at his job, or put up with the woman who whines all the time about how hard she has it. And best of all, no more sucking up to “the boss”!
10. Attire. When you own your own business, you get to wear whatever you want. Want to go to work in your pajamas? Go for it! Want to wear a t-shirt and gym shorts? Do it!
And that’s only a few that I came up with… if I had to list all the things I love about having my own home business, we’d be here for decades!
The bottom line is that in my opinion, there is nothing more rewarding, more satisfying, and more fun than being fulltime in your own home business. I’ve never met a single person who regrets being fulltime in their business, but I can name TONS of people who absolutely HATE their job.
Wishing you all the best as you pursue your dreams!
